| Sports Relief Marathon All In A Day's Work For Athlete |
Martin, the College's Events Co-ordinator, devised his own personal challenge to raise cash for the charity. He decided a 26.2 mile run to work taking in many of the College centres before returning to his New North Road office was a good idea and managed to raise £300. The run started at Holmfirth Adult Education Centre at 8.30am and took in the Taylor Hill Centre, Huddersfield and Highfields Centres then went onto Leeds Road to Brunel House Centre. He continued his journey to Batley, Wheelwright and Dewsbury Centres before completing his run at the College’s new Ossett Centre. Martin managed to complete the distance in an impressive 2 hours 55 minutes. He said:
"I've done a half marathon distance a few times but I’ve never done a full marathon before. I hoped my three years of triathlon and current training for an ironman event in August would get me through it okay. Whatever happened, I needed to be back at my desk at lunchtime to start work. I was really chuffed with my time but it was all about raising money for this great charity." [13/04/2010]
