| Hundreds graduate in H.E. at Kirklees College |
On Monday 5th July, students donned traditional gowns and caps and received their certificates in the main hall at Dewsbury Centre. The graduates then enjoyed a ‘champagne banquet’ to celebrate their successes with friends, family and course mates. Principal of the college, Chris Sadler said: "Official recognition through a higher level award says a great deal about you and the skills, ideas and abilities you have. At Kirklees College, we make sure that achieving a higher award is not beyond the dreams of people who consider themselves 'ordinary'." The graduation awarded students for successfully completing their courses which have accreditation from one of the college' associate universities; the University of Huddersfield or Leeds Metropolitan University. 220 Kirklees College students have graduated this year in higher education, these include qualifications in art, business, photography, education, fashion, sports coaching, animal management and child development. June Durrant is Director of Curriculum for Higher Education at Kirklees College. She said:
"Graduation day is a fantastic day of celebration for our whole community. We look forward to celebrating the successes the graduates have in the future as they contribute to our community in Kirklees and beyond." [07/07/2010]
